Artificial Intelligence is going to play a major role in our future, and that is something we can say with complete certainty. But nowadays when some people think of AI they associate it with unemployment and world domination, whereas others think of it as a tool which will help us in completing our tasks in a much more efficient manner.
When I think of AI, I think of something like JARVIS from Iron Man, something which can a hold a conversation with you, compile and sort data, perhaps help you out with a joke when needed or do simple tasks like manage your household appliances, so we don’t have to move anymore than we have to because c’mon who likes getting up to switch on/off the light, or go about finding the tv remote because it isn’t where you left it.
An Introduction to AI
One thing that has remained constant, throughout human history is that we evolve. Over the past century we have gone from using quills and paper to computers, cellular devices like phones, tablets, etc. But with this came a need to further develop technology leading to the creation of the foundations of Artificial
Intelligence.
Siri, Alexa, even Google Assistant are the first step of conversational AI. They
interact with users to perform basic functions like finding the weather, connecting a call or sending text messages, and other such menial tasks which masses need to conduct but find themselves to be too tedious.
Now, AI development has been taken a step further to form interactive user platforms like ChatGPT. Platforms like ChatGPT can perform complex tasks like
finding information, pooling and sorting data, even finding and solving (in some cases) coding issues, many other simple tasks.
Here I have attached some links to conversations I have personally had with AI models like ChatGPT, doing some of the above mentioned tasks:
Then there are Siri and Alexa who are there on our most precious possessions, our phones. We ask them to call, text and do basically anything we feel too bored to do.
Unfortunately, we are still in the early phases of AI development, thus AI hasn’t reached the level where people can speak to it like an actual human being, i.e it is unable to grasp concepts of human speech like sarcasm. AI is also limited by the fact that it cannot collect data to perform tasks for itself and is hence limited in the scope of tasks it can perform based on the data provided to it by us.
AI is also limited by the fact the instructions provided to it has to be clear and concise.
Why does a good AI prompt matter?
Prompt engineering is the process of
creating special instructions for AI. And it’s
one of the most important steps in your AI process.
Whether you’re using an AI art
generator for generated images, generating ideas for a video game, or writing the next great novel — nailing your prompt is crucial. Imagine you're training an assistant to help with your job.
For your assistant to do their job correctly, you must give them great instructions. For example, you wouldn't tell your assistant to "create a budget report." Instead, you'd guide them with clear instructions and a step-by-step process. Otherwise, they'd get confused and give you something you didn't want.
Examples of some prompts:
• Write a short story about two students
trapped in a haunted house in Montana.
• Compose a persuasive essay arguing for the importance of protecting national parks.
• You're a time traveler from the year 4055. Write a letter to your past self, describing the future.
• Design an eye-catching logo for a
sunglasses company that mixes fashion and fun.
• Create a landing page graphic for a sports shoe company.
• Create an abstract painting inspired by the rush hour traffic in New York City.
• Design a piece of digital artwork showing an imagined colony on Mars.
• Generate a piece of artwork with cinematic lighting that shows an actor on a Broadway stage.
•Design a lesson plan that helps students
practice multiplication tables. Make it fun
and engaging way.
•Write a step-by-step tutorial on how to
perform an experiment. The topic is
exploring the lifecycle of a plant.
• Create a game that helps students learn the present perfect tense.
• Write a script for an educational video that explores the Solar System and its role in the Milky Way.
• Generate a list of keywords for a series of blog posts for a budget travel website.
• Create a fashion influencer marketing
campaign. Include collaborations with other influencers.
Examples of some prompts:
• Add AI product recommendations to boost sales or affiliate revenue.
• Write an email newsletter for subscribers to a food blog.
